Question: Q: How to obtain a GCC on Mac OS X 10.11.6 I have to start coding in C next term (for school) and all of the tutorials on how to install a GCC compiler on Mac involve getting the Xcode app. Unfortunately, whenever I go to download it, it tells me 'Xcode can’t be installed on “Macintosh HD” because OS X version 10.12.6 or later. To compile other sources. you will also need to have Apple's XCode Tools installed from the Mac App Store. With XCode 4 or better you will need to download the command-line tools as an additional step. XCode 8 El Capitan Mac OSX 10.11.6 Part #1.
- Xcode 12.5.1 supports iOS 14.5, iPadOS 14.5, tvOS 14.5, watchOS 7.4, and macOS Big Sur 11.3 New in Xcode 12.5.1 - Addresses a stability issue related to opening the Organizer window.
- From the same page, download a release of Xcode that supports iOS 13.4 (for example Xcode 11.4.1). Unzip it, rename it to 'Xcode-11.4.1.app' and move it to the Applications folder, but don't run it. Add a symbolic link for iOS 13.4 from the DeviceSupport folder in Xcode 11.4.1 to Xcode 11.3.1, as described in Peter Steinberger's Gist.
